DWTS' Derek Hough Shares Emotional Dance With Wife Hayley Erbert After Her Near-Fatal Illness – Watch Video

Dancing with the stars There's no shortage of tearful moments from its celebrity contestants, but this week's most emotional moment came from a judge — and his wife, a professional dancer.

Derek Hough entered the ballroom for an emotional contemporary dance with his former wife on Tuesday's episode DWTS Group dancer Hayley Erbert, for the first time since she suffered a near-fatal cranial hematoma last December.

In a pre-recorded intro, Hough explained that he and Erbert had just gotten married and started touring last year when “everything suddenly came to a devastating halt.” Erbert suffered a seizure backstage during a performance and was taken to the hospital for “a severe brain hemorrhage,” where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors warned Hough that she might never be the same again, he recalled tearfully, but she slowly but surely recovered – and Hough called his wife “a beautiful miracle.”

Hough and Erbert then performed a heartbreaking but ultimately triumphant contemporary number to Benson Boone's “Beautiful Things,” and there wasn't a dry eye in the house afterward. Of course, the two didn't get any points for their performance – but if they did, we would give them 10 points across the board.
