Sources – Giants star LT Andrew Thomas (Lisfranc) is out for the season

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas underwent surgery for a Lisfranc injury on Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 25-year-old Thomas is expected to be fully ready for organized team activities next year, the source told Schefter.

The injury occurred in the third quarter of Sunday night's 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium. Thomas played through, but you could see him limping badly as the game progressed.

“Not great,” he said afterwards about his feeling. Thomas added that he was “fighting through” the pain.

The 2022 second-team All-Pro underwent tests Monday that showed the severity of the injury. Further reports confirmed the seriousness.

Losing Thomas is a huge blow to the Giants. Their offensive line has made significant progress this season after years of struggles, and Thomas has been a stalwart at left tackle. His 88.9% pass block win rate ranks 25th among all offensive tackles this season after fumbling against Cincinnati's Trey Hendrickson in Sunday night's game.

Thomas, who signed a five-year, $117 million contract extension last summer, ranks ninth among all offensive tackles with a pass-block win rate of 91.8% since the start of 2022.

It is the second year in a row that Thomas has been out for a long period of time. He suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1 last season and missed seven games. The Giants' offensive line struggled without him, and his injury while attempting a blocked field goal on the first possession of the season was considered a defining moment last year.

Third-year tackle Joshua Ezeudu is the most likely option to replace Thomas in the lineup. He was the second-team left tackle all summer.

The Giants (2-4) also have Evan Neal on the bench as reserve tackle. But they have refused to move away from the No. 7 overall pick in 2022 from right tackle. Their options include using Neal at right tackle and moving veteran Jermaine Eluemunor from the right side to the left side. Eluemunor has started seven games at left tackle in his career.
