Dodgers-Mets: Walker Buehler starts for Los Angeles in NLCS Game 3

NEW YORK (KABC) – With the series tied at one game apiece, starting pitcher Walker Buehler will pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the New York Mets in Game 3 of the NLCS on Wednesday.

“I feel good. I’m confident,” Buehler told the media. “I think one of my biggest strengths for a long time was probably my confidence. This year it’s been a bit shaky at times.”

Buehler, a two-time All-Star who appeared in several big playoff games for the Dodgers, has endured his most difficult regular season after returning from a second Tommy John surgery. He went 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA.

In his last start, Buehler went five innings and allowed six runs in Game 3 of the NLDS against the San Diego Padres. All of the runs allowed in this game came in the second inning, in which the Dodgers' defense offered little help.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is optimistic about what he saw from Buehler in this game.

“I think overall I would like to see the same effort, the same execution, the same focus and certainly a different result with Walker,” Roberts said.

“The series is 1-1, here it is again away and we are really confident in Walker,” added Roberts. “I expect he will perform with the same conviction and concentration.”

The next three games will be a best-of-seven series in Queens. The series ends if one of the two teams manages to win three times in a row at Citi Field.

The Mets will start Luis Severino in Game 3.
