Sabrina Ionescu's 'cold-blooded' WNBA Finals shot leaves basketball icons in awe

Game 3 of the WNBA Finals between the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx ended a few moments ago. It was another absolutely fantastic contest between two equally elite teams that ended in an 80-77 win for Liberty.

The Liberty had the ball in a 77-77 game with about 10 seconds left in regulation. Liberty star guard Sabrina Ionescu caught the inbounds, dribbled around the perimeter for a few seconds and then went in for a deep three-point attempt with about three seconds left in the game.

Squirt.

Ionescu scored the most shots she has ever made in her basketball career. Minnesota still had enough time to get a last-minute shot that didn't even come close to scoring, but Ionescu essentially made a buzzer-beating shot to give her team a commanding 2-1 lead in the finale.

And the basketball community is still buzzing about the most incredible shot seen this WNBA season.

NBA legend and future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant wrote on X: β€œCold-blooded killer @sabrina_i20.”

Indiana Fever superstar and 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston added, β€œWhat a shot Sabrina πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯.”

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, who is adept at hitting clutch and dagger three-pointers in Minnesota, echoed Boston's sentiments, writing, “What a shot πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯.”

And sports media personality Stephen A. Smith noted: “SHEESH @sabrina_i20.”

The All-WNBA teams were released Thursday, and many believe Ionescu was snubbed because he didn't earn First-Team All-WNBA honors.

While she started Wednesday's game slowly, by the end of Game 3 Ionescu showed all the doubters what she was really made of.
