Martha Stewart tells it all in her new documentary – including revelations she says her ex-husband didn't even know about.

In the trailer for her new Netflix documentary Martha, the lifestyle mogul admits to having an affair during her marriage to Andy Stewart.

“Young women, take my advice: If you're married and your husband starts cheating on you, he's a piece of (trash),” Stewart, 83, says in the trailer. “Get out of this marriage.”

A producer steps in and asks, “Didn't you have an affair early on?” Stewart replies, “Yeah, but I don't think Andy ever knew about it.”

Stewart was married to Andrew Stewart from 1961 to 1990 and told People magazine in 2020 about their divorce.

“Divorce was a terrible thing for me because we were the first in my family to get divorced,” she said. “And the fact that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I am very strong and very motivated to carry on with life.”

“What is more important, a marriage or a career?” asks Stewarts in the Netflix trailer. A producer challenges her and says, “Tell me.” Stewart replies, “I don’t know.”

But she emphasizes: “The cookie-cutter house and the cookie-cutter life were not for me. … I could have just been a miserable former housewife, but I didn't allow that. And that’s me.” I’m glad I didn’t.

The documentary “pulls back the curtain on one of America's greatest self-made icons, from her beginnings as a teenage model to her time as a Wall Street stockbroker to her reign as the grand dame of entertainment and good taste,” according to Netflix .

“What does it mean to be the first self-made billionaire in American history?” Stewart asks with a laugh at the beginning of the trailer.

“I was considered crazy, but it worked,” Stewart says over a montage of images and videos from her early years to her “thirst traps” today.

The lifestyle guru rose to fame as a culinary connoisseur and interior design expert through her Martha Stewart Living empire, which includes cookbooks, her magazine and her popular TV show.

“I am strict and demanding and embody all the good things that make a successful person,” says Stewart. “I was on top of the world.”

“And then the worst thing that could happen happened,” a voice says over news clips from Stewart’s 2003 indictment, followed by her 2004 felony conviction for obstructing an official proceeding, conspiracy to obstruct and making false statements to federal investigators.

“I was a trophy for these idiots,” Stewart says defiantly. “I was put in solitary confinement. No food or drink. These prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and put on blast.”

She served an infamous five-month prison sentence for lying to federal investigators about a stock sale. But her comeback has been a modern miracle of reinvention, as Stewart has struck up an unexpected friendship and lucrative business partnership with rapper Snoop Dogg, appeared on the cover of the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue at age 81, and remained relevant as a cultural institution.

“I had to climb out of a hole,” Stewart says in the trailer. “I had two mottos: 'Learn something new every day' and 'When you're done changing, you're done.'”
