Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the frail or elderly, and other people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms can include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Giant said anyone who becomes ill due to a product they consume should contact their doctor.

Consumers with questions may contact TreeHouse at 800-596-2903, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (CST).
