Aaron Boone responds to reporters after the Yankees' stunning loss

The New York Yankees could grab a 3-0 series lead in the American League Championship Series on Thursday night after Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the eighth inning.

The Yankees felt this too when the team celebrated wildly after Stanton's shot gave the Bronx Bombers a one-run lead.

But one inning later, everything fell apart for New York. Jhonkensy Noel hit a two-run home run off Luke Weaver as the Guardians tied the game until the last out, and in the 10th inning, David Fry singled a yard off Clay Holmes, sending Cleveland to an exciting 7-5 Walk-off win.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was asked after the heartbreaking loss if his team got too carried away after Judge and Stanton's home run and if there was a feeling that they had already clinched the victory despite having to get six more outs. Boone firmly rejected this idea.

“Flash up. No. I have that in my pocket. Stop it,” Boone said. per YES network.

Boone said he indulged in a quick fist pump after Judge and Stanton's punches, but the Yankees celebrated much more. They streamed out of the dugout and followed the home runs before congratulating their teammates. Boone had no problem with his team's response.

“It’s the playoffs, man. You hit home runs and go-ahead home runs, that’s what it looks like,” Boone said. “In the playoffs you never have anything in your pocket, no. You never take anything for granted.”
