Watch: Struggling Oklahoma State RB rushes for 50-yard TD

Some college football fans were probably wondering where Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II was before his long touchdown run on Friday night.

Trailing BYU 7-0 early in the first quarter, Oklahoma State quarterback Garret Rangel handed the ball to Gordon, who punched right en route to a 50-yard touchdown.

After winning the Doak Walker Award as the best RB in college football in 2023, Gordon was considered one of the brightest stars in the country. However, he has not lived up to expectations this season.

In his first six games, he managed just 384 yards and four touchdowns on 101 carries. Last season, he rushed for a career-high 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns on 285 carries in 14 games.

Gordon's drop-off could be related to Oklahoma State's inconsistent offensive line. According to Opta analyst Alex Kirshner, Gordon averaged four yards from contact last season. In 2024 this value has fallen to 1.9.

Breaking a big TD run should help Gordon restore his confidence and show NFL teams that he is still a talented young player. According to Tankathon's big board, he is the second-best RB in the 2025 class behind Boise State star Ashton Jeanty.
