Oklahoma State's Ollie Gordon flies for the first touchdown against BYU

The Oklahoma State Cowboys find themselves in unfamiliar territory, both because of their three straight conference losses and because they are playing at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, UT for the first time ever.

That became even more evident on the Cougars' first drive, which immediately resulted in a 50-yard bomb through the air and ultimately a punch-in from Jake Retzlaff.

However, Ollie Gordon II – Oklahoma State's star running back – had an answer.

On just his third carry of the game and OSU's first drive, Gordon made it all the way to the house with his own 50-yard self-bomb. The score would tie at seven points apiece, giving the Cowboys some much-needed confidence and breathing room.

Gordon pulled hard to his right after the handoff and took shallow contact from a BYU defender before accelerating hard toward the sideline, where he was never touched again.

This year, Gordon has yet to live up to his potential from last season, rushing for just 472 yards and four touchdowns on 3.8 yards per carry. Still, he's the heartbeat of the Pokes' offense and needs to get back into shape if they're going to have a chance at a bowl game.

His big performance against the Cougars could very well set him up for a solid performance the rest of the season.
