Sarfaraz Khan's epic style to warn Rishabh Pant to avoid leakage

India came close but Sarfaraz Khan's animated SOS call caught everyone's attention.

Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant joined forces to lead India's fightback on Saturday morning after being bowled out for 46 in the first innings against New Zealand in Bengaluru. The hosts made a stunning comeback in their second innings with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan scoring valiant fifties. As the fourth day progressed, Pant and Sarfaraz took the lead and formed a fifty partnership in no time.

The runs were going well for India as the Kiwis fought hard for a breakthrough. The visitors almost had a chance to dismiss the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, but Sarfaraz's lively intervention prevented this from happening.

After playing a late cut off Matt Henry's bowling, Sarfaraz picked up a single but Pant probably wanted a second. The latter started late for the second run and had his eyes on the ball, but Sarfaraz jumped across the pitch to stop his partner. Pant was lucky that Daryl Mitchell was well ahead of the stumps while the throw didn't hit the stumps.

India came close but Sarfaraz's animated SOS caught everyone's attention. Commentator Ravi Shastri took a note and said, “Sarfaraz Khan is doing a rain dance here.”

Sarfaraz scored his first Test century on the fourth morning of the first Test against New Zealand. He reached the milestone with a beautiful smash through the covers for four, needing just 110 deliveries. Soon after reaching three figures, Sarfaraz savored the moment, holding his arms up and pointing his bat towards the Indian dressing room as he roared with joy.

This made him the 22nd Indian batsman in Test history to score a duck and a century in the same Test. Shubman Gill, who missed this competition due to fitness issues, recently recorded a duck and a century in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh.

Thanks to a superb century from Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand took a big lead of 356 runs in the first innings. However, India responded with Sarfaraz scoring a century while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored half-centuries.
