The Michigan State Spartans return to action when the Iowa Hawkeyes visit Spartan Stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.

After the first bye week of the season, the Spartans enter the game on a three-game losing streak, with all of the losses coming in night games. Michigan State is playing its fifth night game of the season and currently has two more scheduled this season (next Saturday against in-state rival Michigan and late next month against Purdue).

In the 49-game history of the two teams, the Spartans have a record of 22-25-2 against the Hawkeyes. The two teams last played in 2023, with the Spartans nearly defeating the Hawkeyes before a punt return by Iowa's Cooper DeJean turned the game on its head and resulted in a 26-16 loss.

Michigan State vs. Iowa Prediction, Tips, Odds

Jeff Seidel, Detroit Free Press: Wait a second. Iowa has an offense? One that can actually score touchdowns? Indeed. Iowa outscored Washington by 40 points. The Spartans also have the potential to move the ball, make explosive plays and score touchdowns. But turnover problems continue to plague MSU. And I don't think the trend will end against Iowa. The choice: Iowa 28, MSU 20.

  • Spread: Iowa by 6 points.
  • Over/Under Overall: 39½.
  • Money line: Iowa -225, MSU +185.
