So much for the farewell tour. McDonald's is bringing back the famous McRib sandwich.

Currently only restaurants in the UK have the sandwich on the menu, but US fans may not have to wait too long as the sandwich is likely to return to local McDonald's locations later this year.

The McRib sandwich, which consists of seasoned boneless pork marinated in BBQ sauce with onions and pickles, made a comeback in the UK for a limited time this week. Since its introduction in 1981, the McRib has repeatedly appeared and disappeared from the menu.

According to Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's US, the McRib is primed for a comeback. Over the summer, Erlinger told the Today Show that the sandwich would see a resurgence “later this year.”

The sandwich's November release has already been confirmed in Illinois. Last year, McDonald's locations across Ohio also brought back the McRib in mid-November, so it's possible the iconic sandwich could be available at a McDonald's near you as early as next month.

In the meantime, fans can keep tabs on the McRib's whereabouts by using the McRib Locator, which tracks McRib sightings around the world. In the meantime, the limited-time Chicken Big Mac can tide you over until the popular barbecue sandwich makes a comeback.
