The Cleveland Guardians superstar speaks out about major issues

Emmanuel Clase was one of the main reasons many believed the Cleveland Guardians had a chance to upset the New York Yankees in the ALCS. Instead, he was one of the main reasons the Guardians are down 3-1 in the series and facing elimination.

In the first four games of the series, Clase pitched in two games.

His first appearance in the Series yielded 0.1 innings of work and gave up three hits, two earned runs and two home runs. Last night he went 1.0 innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, one walk and one strikeout.

Needless to say, the fights were completely out of character for him. Nobody would have seen such a negative performance from him.

With all that said, Clase spoke out amid the struggles he is going through. The Cleveland superstar is surprised by this, but hasn't let it dampen his confidence.

“I just didn’t execute. I’m failing against the batsmen and I haven’t been getting the results,” Clase said.

He continued, making it clear that his confidence isn't fading even to those who surprised him with his poor pitching.

“I’m not going to lose my confidence,” Clase said. “I will do my best. It’s something that surprises me, what’s happening.”

Clase was elite all season long. In fact, he is considered a potential Cy Young winner as a closer. That alone shows how dominant he was.

In his 74 regular season appearances, Clase posted a 4-2 record, a 0.61 ERA, a 0.66 WHIP, a 6.6 K/BB ratio, 47 saves and only three blown saves. These numbers show how surprising this ALCS battle was.

Although the Guardians have their last chance, they are still alive. It's rare for a team to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the series, but Cleveland isn't giving up just yet.

Hopefully Clase and Co. can get a win at home tonight and extend the streak. It won't be easy, but the entire season hasn't been easy and they have the talent to win three games in a row.
