Juventus had to struggle to beat ten-man Lazio after Alessio Romagnoli's early red card, ultimately relying on an own goal from Mario Gila.

The Bianconeri were still unbeaten, but with four draws they were level on points with Marco Baroni's team. Francisco Conceicao was suspended, Teun Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez, Weston McKennie, Arek Milik and Gleison Bremer were injured. Manuel Lazzari didn't make it, Matteo Guendouzi started despite being hit.

Khephren Thuram sprinted towards the byline and the retreat was decisively intercepted by Mario Gila, but the game changed after 24 minutes when Dusan Vlahovic's first pass sent Pierre Kalulu free towards goal, who was brought down by a desperate tackle from Alessio Romagnoli. The VAR confirmed it was outside the penalty area and he didn't get the ball, so a red card was inevitable.

Vlahovic's free-kick flew just over the crossbar and under pressure from Adam Marusic he turned a volley wide, while Federico Gatti headed home from six meters after Andrea Cambiaso's cross.

Vlahovic's best chance came in the 57th minute when he parried away a deflected attempt from Khephren Thuram and directed it onto the underside of the crossbar.

A few moments later, Tim Weah's cross went over Vlahovic and Douglas Luiz reached the diving header at the far post.

Ivan Provedel made his first real save on the 81stst minute when he went down to push away Vlahovic's curler. He didn't even have to move as Nicolò Fagioli's missile was aimed straight at him from a distance, but Juventus made a breakthrough with a stroke of luck.

Mario Gila was in the ideal position to clear Juan Cabal's cross from the left, but the exhausted defender made a mistake and accidentally shot the ball into his own net from six yards. He had been limping for some time while Lazio made all the substitutions.

Vasilije Adzic also hit Provedel's gloves from a distance.
