Texas broke through in its first season as a member of the SEC.

The Longhorns (6-0, 2-0 SEC) are ranked No. 1 in the nation and hosted ESPN's “College GameDay” before their home game against No. 4 Georgia on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, OU hasn't gotten off to such a great start in the SEC. The injury-plagued Sooners (4-2, 1-2 SEC) have fallen out of the rankings and suffered a 34-3 loss to the Longhorns last week in Dallas.

When comparing OU and Texas' different starts to Saturday's SEC game, “College GameDay” co-host Lee Corso repeated a quote from OU head coach Brent Venables after the Red River Rivalry loss.

“They’re good in the right places,” Venables said. “Quarterback. Offensive line. They have explosive playmakers. They have a really good defense. You have good experience. They have a really complete team.”

Then former Alabama head coach Nick Saban got involved. He praised Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, who worked under Saban at Alabama.

“Sark built this Texas team as an SEC team,” Saban said. “Oklahoma isn’t built that way. But Texas is, and that’s why they can compete in this league.”

OU will continue SEC play with a home game against South Carolina on Saturday at 11:45 a.m.
