Sounders vs. Timbers, live stream: lineups, kickoff, updates

LINEUPS: The Sounders will play with the same lineup as in three of their last four games, with Pedro de la Vega back in for Georgi Minoungou. The Timbers, on the other hand, will be playing Finn Surman for the first time in MLS as three of their top center backs are out for various reasons.

This probably isn't the most pressure the Seattle Sounders have ever faced on Decision Day, but it might be the most emotional duel they've ever had on the final day of the season. It's not just the fact that the Portland Timbers are in town, it's also the significance, both real and emotional, of this result.

A win not only solidifies third place in the Western Conference standings and a spot in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, but also brings the Cascadia Cup back to Seattle. It would also end an agonizing 10-game home win streak against the Timbers that has defied logic.

Not winning this game isn't the end of the world for the Sounders, but it would leave them with a lot of emotional baggage to carry with them into a postseason that suddenly seems a lot more open than it was just a few weeks ago.

  • The Sounders are 12-2-2 since June 15th. With a win, they would become only the second team in MLS history to score more than 40 points in one half of the season. The Sounders set this record in 2018 when they went 14-2-1.
  • Albert Rusnák is just one assist away from breaking Nicolás Lodeiro's club record of 16 in the regular season and has already matched Lodeiro with 18 assists in all competitions.
  • Jordan Morris is just two goals away from breaking Obafemi Martins' club record of 19 goals in all competitions. Morris will have at least three more games to try to catch up with Martins.
  • The stakes were lowered somewhat for the Timbers when it was announced that they would host a play-in game against the Vancouver Whitecaps regardless of their place in the standings. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Whitecaps do not have a BC spot available for the play-in round.
