No. 2 North Dakota State defeats No. 1 South Dakota State to win 2024 Dakota Marker

No. 2 North Dakota State won the 2024 Dakota Marker, defeating No. 1 South Dakota State 13-9. With the win, the Bison end a five-game losing streak against the Jackrabbits.

North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller showed off his grip gene on the final drive of the game, going 7-for-7 passing for 76 yards and rushing for six yards on the drive. All but one play on NDSU's game-winning drive came from Miller, including his touchdown pass to RaJa Bell.

Defensively, the Bison limited reigning Walter Payton Award winner Mark Gronowski to fewer than 100 yards passing or rushing and no touchdowns.

South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski threw his first interception in a Dakota marker game when North Dakota State linebacker Logan Kopp intercepted a pass intended for wide receiver Griffin Wilde.

The third quarter at Dakota Marker was scoreless. North Dakota State's Griffin Crosa missed a 48-yard field goal on the first drive of the second half and neither team came within scoring range from then on. The Bison and Jackrabbits each had two punts in the third quarter.

No. 1 South Dakota State leads No. 2 North Dakota State 9-7 at halftime.

It was a closely contested game between the two rivals as neither team had more than 100 yards. However, both quarterbacks were efficient. SDSU's Mark Gronowski completed 11-14 passes (79 percent) and NDSU's Cam Miller completed 9-15 passes (60 percent). Aside from SDSU QB Chase Mason's 66-yard score, rushing games were modest for both teams.
