Former Sabers forward claimed off waivers

Former Buffalo Sabers forward Vinnie Hinostroza is among the NHL's newest available players, having been claimed off waivers by the Nashville Predators.

Hinostroza, 30, signed a two-year deal with the Predators in the offseason. The Chicago, Illinois native wanted to earn a spot on the Predators' inaugural team, but he didn't make it.

Hinostroza spent last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. In 14 games for Pittsburgh this season, he recorded one goal, three points and a minus-3 rating. He spent most of the year in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, recording 16 goals, 35 points and a plus-1 rating in 42 games.

Hinostroza played with the Sabers during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. In 88 games as a Saber, he scored 15 goals and 36 points.
