49ers inactive: Charvarius Ward and Malik Mustapha will start against the Chiefs

There were no surprises after the San Francisco 49ers released their list of inactive players ahead of Sunday's Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs:

WR Jauan Jennings

TE Brayden Willis

KJake Moody

OL Ben Bartch

LB Jalen Graham

CB Darrell Luter

QB Joshua Dobbs (3rd QB)

Luter and Jennings haven't practiced all week and Kyle Shanahan said he doesn't expect Moody to return until the bye week.

The injury news that is perhaps the most important today and that no one is mentioning is that Malik Mustapha is not listed on the injury report after taking full part in training on Friday.

Mustapha gives the 49ers a sure-handed running and passing threat. He can be trusted as a tackler, as a deep safety and when he plays in the box. If a rookie can take on multiple roles, you can take on multiple roles as a defense.

The 49ers will also welcome back cornerback Charvarius Ward. It will be interesting to see how the cornerback rotation plays opposite Ward. Last week, Renardo Green proved he can handle a heavier workload against competent receivers.

This week, the Chiefs only have one healthy wideout they trust. Is green needed? Would they trust him to defend tight ends? We'll find out.
