GREEN BAY – Joe Mixon may not have made his Lambeau Leap in the first half, but it kept one Green Bay Packers fan from watching the rest of Sunday's 24-22 victory over the Houston Texans.

At least that was the plan.

With 11:52 left in the second quarter, Mixon scored on a 2-yard run to give the Texans a 10-7 lead. Mixon jogged to the stands, where a lone Texans fan was waiting, trying to imitate the Packers' fabled jump. A Packers fan, dressed in a team ball cap and green and yellow jumpsuit, pushed Mixon to the ground twice and grabbed the running back's face mask on the second attempt.

Shortly thereafter, police officers arrived in the corner end zone to eject the fan. The fan was ejected, according to the team, for “excessive” force, a violation of the team’s fan code of conduct. It is not uncommon for fans to come into conflict with opposing players attempting to jump into the stands, occasionally resulting in physical contact or the spilling of beer on a player. However, the altercation on Sunday led to a dismissal because it was a border violation.

Mixon and the fan exchanged words on the sidelines after the altercation. The fan appeared to trick Mixon as he walked back to the Texans sideline.

The fan faced no legal consequences for the altercation, only expulsion. But the same fan appeared to have returned to his seat at the end of the game. The fan appears in photos next to Packers kicker Brandon McManus, who performed a much more welcome Lambeau Leap after making his game-winning kick from 45 yards on Sunday. It is unclear how the fan returned to his seat. The team spokesman, who said the fan was ejected, did not immediately respond to a text message seeking clarification.

On a day when the Packers' defense shut down Texas quarterback CJ Stroud, Mixon was the only bright spot for his offense. Mixon ran 25 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns, his second a 4-yard run 1:13 before halftime. Mixon didn't attempt a Lambeau jumper after his second score and instead stayed in the end zone.
