Steelers Suffer Two Injuries to Win Over Jets

Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered two injuries during their 37-15 win over the New York Jets on Sunday night. After the game, head coach Mike Tomlin said NT Montravius Adams (knee) and CB Donte Jackson (shoulder) were injured during the game. None of them returned to finish the job.

“We had a few injuries,” Tomlin told the team’s website after the game. “Mon Adams had a knee injury and was unable to return. Donte Jackson suffered a shoulder injury and was unable to return. We had some other bumps and bruises that came with playing.”

The good news for the Steelers is that Jackson said he expects to play against the New York Giants in Week 8, according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Both injuries were announced and known in the game. Adams appeared on Friday's injury report with a knee injury. He was upgraded and removed from the report on Saturday, but corrected it at the start of the game and was unable to finish it. The rest of the Steelers D-line played well. Larry Ogunjobi picked up a sack, Keeanu Benton hit two passes, Cam Heyward played well as always and Dean Lowry blocked a field goal.

Jackson has been battling a shoulder injury for weeks. It appeared he was injured again on a failed arm tackle on RB Breece Hall's 57-yard catch-and-run. He was replaced by CB James Pierre. The team initially announced that Jackson could return before later ruling him out.

Pittsburgh had few corners early in games, with only four active corners on game day.

Pittsburgh will take an extra day of rest and will not return to the field until next Monday night against the New York Giants. This game will also be played at home as the Steelers look to get to 6-2 before their Week 9 bye.

Tomlin will provide another update on the Steelers' injuries during his press conference on Tuesday.
