World Series Schedule: The Fall Classic begins Friday, October 25th

The Dodgers' loss to the Mets on Friday in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series in New York shifted the series to Los Angeles for Game 6 on Sunday. This also means that the World Series will begin on Friday, October 25th this year.

Now we just need to find out which teams will play in the 2024 Fall Classics.

For the first time this year, the World Series had flexible scheduling. If both League Championship Series had ended within five games, the start date for the World Series would have been Tuesday, October 22nd.

Like the Dodgers on Friday, the Yankees enter their fifth Saturday game of the American League Championship Series with a 3-1 lead over the Guardians.

Should the Dodgers capitalize on one of their potentially two home chances to eliminate the Mets in the NLCS, they would open the World Series at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers secured home-field advantage in the postseason by leading the MLB with 98 wins in the regular season. The Yankees (94 wins) and Guardians (92 wins) finished with the two best records in the American League.

The Yankees or Cleveland would have home-field advantage over the 89-win Mets if a matchup occurs.

The World Series is televised by Fox, with Joe Davis and John Smoltz attending every game along with field reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci.
