Rumor Roundup: AJ Lee & WWE, CM Punk Title Plans, Brock Lesnar, More!

Speculating about the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favorite pastime for many fans, perhaps even more important than watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors from the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important note: Rumors are just that – rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it's just circulating in the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track the veracity of the rumors in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back, which you can find here. Remember to take everything with caution.

Rumors for this day:

  • According to WrestleVotes, “WWE is fully comfortable with AJ Lee returning.” This from a Backstage Pass Q&A with Bill Apter. Votes added that AJ has given the company no indication that she will be back and that the only people who know what she thinks are her and her husband.
  • Regarding Lee's husband, Ibou said on WrestlePurists' Raw review show that CM Punk will face Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Survivor Series.
  • Apter also asked WrestleVotes about talk of Brock Lesnar returning to WWE on Backstage Pass. Votes replied: “I will give you a short answer. Yes”.
  • In response to this and speculation sparked by the “Beast” references on Raw last Monday, Fightful Select reported that there are “no creative plans for Lesnar” in WWE. If there were internal conversations about Brock's return, Fightful's sources didn't mention them.
  • According to Ibou of Wrestlepurists, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend's recent WWE Women's Tag Title shot was made on SmackDown so that company officials “had a chance to easily evaluate them.” WWE reportedly believes NXT's Meta Four “have upside potential on the main roster,” and if Legend & Jackson's assessment is positive, the entire group could soon be called up. If not, they will gain more experience in NXT with the goal of promoting them in next year's draft or later in 2025.
  • AEW recently filed for the trademark “Fright Night Dynamite,” which was announced as the name of their October 30 episode.
