Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin feared he suffered an ankle injury in the loss to the Ravens

With just under a minute left in the loss, Godwin made a 21-yard reception and was tackled by Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith. Godwin remained on the ground for several minutes after the tackle and was eventually carted away with air pressure on his leg.

Bowles did not say whether Godwin was transported to a hospital after the game. Although the exact severity and recovery time of the injury is not yet known, Bowles' words suggest that the Buccaneers may have to prepare to be without one of their star receivers for an extended period of time.

“Our prayers go out to him, Chris is a great player and even more a great person,” Bowles said. “There’s not much you can say, you feel sorry for him.”

Godwin had seven catches for 65 yards before leaving the game, giving him 50 catches for 576 yards this season. He leads the league in receptions through the first seven weeks.

While Godwin's injury was the most noticeable and likely costly injury, the Buccaneers also have to deal with the possibility that their other starting wideout Mike Evans also misses time. Evans left the game in the second quarter after suffering a hamstring injury, but Bowles had no information on how serious that injury might be.

The Buccaneers, who fell to 4-3 with the loss, next face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 27.
