“Initial reactions to 'Venom 3' praise the final film and Tom Hardy's performance”

The first reactions to “Venom: The Last Dance” are there: press representatives describe the film from Sony Pictures as a “celebration for the fans” and a “fitting conclusion” to the trilogy.

Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, better known as the symbiote Venom from the Spider-Man comics, for Venom: The Last Dance. The official logline states: “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both worlds and as the web tightens, the duo are forced to make a devastating decision that brings down the curtain on Venom and Eddie’s final dance.”

Joseph Lidmeier of Screen Rant wrote on X that the film “takes you on a wild and exciting journey from start to finish.” “It's a fun popcorn movie that reminds me of the comic book movies of the early 2000s. The action is great and pays homage to action movies from the 80s. There are a lot of funny moments,” he continued. “Are there any plot holes and some problems with the story? Yes. (Is) it fun? Besides, yes.”

Digital Spy editor Ian Sandwell called the third installment “the most entertaining installment of the trilogy,” adding, “It's largely a fun and sweet road trip as Eddie and Venom pursue their dreams of Thelma and Louise on the road.” Live out escapism, including car karaoke and dog rescue.” You may even get emotional.”

In addition to Hardy, “Venom: The Last Dance” stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham.

Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the first two “Venom” films, directed “The Last Dance” from a screenplay she wrote. Marcel and Hardy developed the story of “Venom 3” and produced alongside Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker. Joe Caracciolo Jr. is the executive producer.

The Atom Review praised Hardy's performance as Eddie Brock/Venom, writing on X: “A huge epic and emotional finale!! Tom Hardy gives it EVERYTHING and Sony has never been better. Stunning action that satisfies all 19 inches. It's not just another Venom movie, it's one of the BEST comic book movies of all time! A worthy conclusion to prepare for the next steps.”

In a follow-up article, Atom Review wrote: “Cinematic fun on an incredible scale.” A celebration for the fans and a true love letter that honors the franchise. It offers great humor, gritty action and a compelling story.”

“Venom: The Last Dance” hits theaters on October 25th. You can find further initial reactions below.

“Is it perfect? No, far from it. However, it is miles ahead of #Venom and has a much more extensive plot than #VenomLetThereBeCarnage. The #SpiderMan4 rumors are exaggerated in my opinion, but #VenomTheLastDance has made me want more from these two. And Knull (mostly).” — Josh Wilding (@Josh_Wilding)

#VenomTheLastDance sees Tom Hardy give it his all for an entertaining finale that befits the franchise. With a plethora of set pieces ranging from crazy to insane, the Venomenal action isn't compromised. Take it for what it is. Grab some popcorn and enjoy this fast-paced road movie.” — Simon Thompson (@ShowbizSimon)

#VenomTheLastDance is the best of the “Venom” films – the madness has been significantly increased, but so has the heart. It's not perfect, but it's super entertaining and there's a giant monster that chews people up and shoots blood out of the back of his head. Pretty crazy.” — Drew Taylor (@DrewTailored)

“Venom The Last Dance is a crazy buddy road trip that exceeds its PG-13 rating to the max. In short: “Venom 3” is a classic guilty pleasure movie. Turn off your brain and indulge in #Venom.” — Chris Killian (@chriskillian)

“I think #VenomTheLastDance is the best of the three, although it's still incredibly bad. It's bizarre and worth watching because it's willing to try anything. Symbiote fish? Secure. Mrs. Chen dance sequence? Why not. I laughed a few times, but this trilogy accomplished very little. Sigh” – Sean O'Connell (@Sean_OConnell)
