The Browns name Jameis Winston the starting quarterback and change offensive play-caller before facing the Ravens

Jameis Winston will start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns for the first time this season, while offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey takes over from head coach Kevin Stefanski.

These are two big changes on offense before the Ravens travel to Cleveland for Sunday's game.

The Browns (1-6) are on a five-game losing streak and rank last in the NFL in total offense. Cleveland lost quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending Achilles tendon injury after being largely ineffective all season (five touchdown passes, three interceptions).

Stefanski announced he would start Winston in place of second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who injured his finger in Week 7 after taking over for Watson. Stefanski said Thompson-Robinson does not need surgery and will practice this week.

Winston completed 5 of 11 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He will face the Ravens and make his first start since 2022 with the New Orleans Saints.

“I am extremely grateful to have another opportunity to do what the Lord has called me to do in the NFL, and that is to be an NFL starting quarterback,” Winston said, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com. “I am prepared and will do my best.”
