Jerry Jones revisits radio hosts he threatened to fire

Last Tuesday, Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones was upset on the morning show on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. To the point where he basically threatened to have the hosts fired.

This Tuesday, Jerry was back. Right outside the gates he addressed the elephant in the studio.

“I have nothing to say about last week,” Jones said. “I’m surprised there was so much attention last week.”

That's not me. Jerry seemed really upset. It wasn't a joke or anything. He was simply angry. And he flexed his monetary muscles a little to remind the hosts and everyone else who's boss.

Although he never apologized (again, being obscenely rich means never having to apologize), Jones seemed a little contrite, at least about the purpose of speaking to fans through a popular local media outlet.

He called it “a privilege” to do the twice-weekly radio spots and admitted he expects to answer many of the questions he receives.

Given Ravens running back Derrick Henry's incredible performance on Monday night, Jones responded (again) to the failure to pursue Henry before he could be asked, calling it a “get up your ass” type of question.

He explained that the problems with the Cowboys “go beyond the question of whether or not we have Derrick Henry.” According to Jerry, Henry may not have the same impact in Dallas as he did on the Ravens.

Jones said the Cowboys are all about “holding the blocks” and “not making mistakes” and getting the receivers to “fight through tough man-to-man coverage.” It’s about not “designing bad plays” or “designing bad concepts.” He said there were some “execution issues.” And in some ways, it's about talent — even if the man in charge of the Cowboys' talent said (surprisingly) that he really likes the team's talent.

“Derrick Henry didn't fit, mostly because he was dealing with the cap,” Jones finally said, “and because he was waiting for the players we would sign weeks later, or because he was hoping for the players we would sign in the future would oblige.” .”

This explanation is still basically a big bummer. The Cowboys misjudged the amount of gas he had left in the tank. They couldn't imagine what influence he could have on any crime. And now they are bearing the consequences.

What Derrick Henry can do is universal in football. The ability to blow through holes and hit the hyperdrive is of tremendous value.

The Cowboys didn't believe he had it. And they didn't want to pay for what he had left.

That's okay. The Cowboys weren't the only ones attacking Henry. However, the fact that Jones brought up the topic this week without being asked proves that the topic has, to use his language, really gotten on his nerves.

The best news for the radio hosts is that they managed to avoid getting on his ass this week.
