This Trump heir will address Vance after the vice presidential debate

Tim Walz may have more to lose in Tuesday night's vice presidential debate, but JD Vance has more to prove. And spinmeisters from both parties are ready to pounce on reporters and airwaves to claim their man is ahead.

Vance is the next vice presidential candidate who is a proverbial heartbeat away from the presidency after an actual and multiple foiled assassination attempts against Donald Trump. And Trump-Vance surrogates, including the GOP candidate's son, Donald Trump Jr., will be in the speaker's room after the high-risk debate in New York to explain why Vance didn't just win the debate – even if he actually did Didn't do it – but deserved more to become vice president than Walz and to claim the throne as first in line to the presidential line of succession.

The younger Trump was one of Vance's main supporters during the sweepstakes, urging his father to choose his close friend, the Ohio senator, despite concerns from some donors. Several assassination attempts later, Don Jr. told Fox News he felt “completely vindicated” by the election.

“He was absolutely outstanding,” he said. “JD is a man of substance. He's a guy who lived that American dream and came from Appalachia to now become the vice presidential candidate of the Republican Party in the United States. But beyond that, it’s about building businesses and everything else besides that.”

Expect similar topics of conversation Tuesday night. Senior Trump adviser Jason Miller and a number of Republican congressmen will join the younger Trump in the newsroom, NOTUS first reported.

Those lawmakers include two House members who have made somewhat open bids to become Trump's No. 2: former moderate Republican conference chair Elise Stefanik of New York and Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida. The GOP spin crew also includes Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, another arch-conservative Trump loyalist, and freshman Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama, who in March delivered a widely derided response to Joe Biden's State of the Union address that turned into an SNL – became a classic.

According to the Harris-Walz campaign, Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison will be in the speaker's room on Walz's behalf. He will also be joined by several members of Congress, including Kamala Harris' Veepstakes finalist Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), along with: Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Walz's home state of Minnesota and Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico; Governors. Jared Polis of Colorado and JB Pritzker of Illinois; and Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas.
