Aaron Rodgers “lacks” great leadership and the ability to elevate the team

For New York Jets fans, the Aaron Rodgers experience wasn't particularly pleasant. Apparently, the veteran quarterback was incredibly unlucky as he was sidelined with a season-ending injury just four games into the 2023 season. But the first five games of 2024 haven't been great either, with Gang Green heading into a competitive game against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night at 2-3, as shown by the surprising firing of head coach Robert Saleh earlier this week – and the Palace intrigue becomes more and more fascinating.

Part of the reason why so many pundits were confident that Rodgers would succeed in New York was because we've only relatively recently seen aging quarterback greats achieve late-career Super Bowl success, as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning climbed to the top of the mountain. However, there has been no shortage of doubters who, given the different personalities in the game, have concluded that Rodgers isn't exactly like the others and that the only thing marring his incredible career is that he hasn't done enough to achieve a big win. That's a view that more and more people are coming to as the world changes at MetLife and the Jets' organizational chart.

Ryan Clark talked about this idea on this morning's episode Stand upand said, “The Aaron Rodgers we mention in the name of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning was a catfish.”

catfish was a great film with a shocking ending. Catfish: The TV Show is actually quite predictable and often leaves the viewer wondering after the hour how the deceived party could be so naive as to believe something was too good to be true. There will be plenty of time for reflection and rethinking if Rodgers fails to turn things around with the Jets, and to be honest, history is still being written, but at this point this saga feels more like a TV show.

Clark's harshest criticism focused on the quarterback composition.

“Aaron Rodgers has all the physical skills to be the best quarterback to play the game. There's something missing in his intangible DNA that makes him not have great leadership and not be able to make the locker room and me better. “I think that's what we're seeing in New York.

That sounds strong, and yet it's exactly what those who thought Rodgers wouldn't win significantly with the Jets have been saying about the situation for over 17 months.
