Aaron Rodgers suddenly looks lost after the NY Jets traded for Davante Adams

The NY Jets hoped to recapture some of Green Bay's magic when they acquired Davante Adams in a trade last week, reuniting the six-time Pro Bowler with Aaron Rodgers at Florham Park.

The expectation was that Adams and Rodgers would pick up where they left off after years of serving together as one of the best quarterback/wide receiver duos in NFL history. That hasn't quite happened yet.

Adams will make his Jets debut on Football on Sunday evenings against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7, and although the Packers' longtime wideout made some plays, he was held back by poor play from his quarterback.

Rodgers struggled to stretch the field against a talented Steelers defense and settled for check-downs far too often. He seems hesitant to throw a ball downfield, evidenced by a devastating interception at the end of the first half.

Rodgers looks lost and he can't blame his wide receivers.

Rodgers completed just 3 of 8 passes for five yards and one interception on passes thrown more than five yards beyond the line of scrimmage. The vast majority of his production came in post-catch plays, most of it courtesy of Breece Hall.

Adams has just three catches for 30 yards in two quarters. Rodgers' box score numbers may look good because of the yards after the catch, but his ball placement was a mess and he almost looks like he's afraid to throw the ball beyond 10 yards.

His interception of Beanie Bishop Jr. late in the second quarter was a direct result of a double clutch that left Rodgers hesitant to pull the trigger. It's not even a physical thing – it seems to be a mental problem.

What's wrong with Aaron Rodgers? Why doesn't the Rodgers-Adams connection work? Right now it's up to Rodgers. The four-time MVP needs to sort things out before the Jets lose their fourth straight game.
