Agatha All Along aims to make Scarlet Witch the focus of the MCU, even though she's dead

Agatha All Along will air a new episode tonight that focuses almost entirely on Wicca, aka Billy Maximoff, and includes an explanation of how he exists despite supposedly being a being magically created by Wanda. And now that he exists, why does Joe Locke basically look nothing like the boy who played him before? The trailer essentially spoiled it all, but I won't do that here as it annoyed me.

But where all this is going seems clear, and it's not really a spoiler so much as an inevitability. Billy Maximoff is now on the witch road that will give you what you're missing. His mother Wanda is dead. Her corpse is shown at the beginning of the series. What else will he want at the end of this journey?

It's not just about Agatha All Along bringing back Scarlet Witch and Elizabeth Olsen, but also about the role she's likely to play in the future.

I would say that at this stage of the MCU, the two biggest fan-favorite characters are currently on the sidelines but will be included soon: Scarlet Witch and Daredevil. Daredevil will return next year with a massive new series, but Disney is keeping quiet about Scarlet Witch.

However, insiders keep reporting that she will play a key role in the next two Avengers films and may even get a solo film. Without confirming any of this, I believe the gist of it is true that Wanda will play a big role in the future as one of the final and most important pre-Thanos members of the MCU. Otherwise, things are in a strange place because:

  • Tony Stark is dead, and if he's coming back, it'll be because of some weird Doom/Stark multiverse shenanigans.
  • Evan's Captain America is off the table and will be replaced by Sam Wilson.
  • Black Panter is now called Shuri, for now.
  • Thor is who knows where and his last film was terrible.
  • Hulk hasn't even gotten a solo film yet and was last seen in the canceled series She-Hulk. And he's stuck in Smart Hulk form these days.
  • Shang-Chi is supposed to get a sequel, but we have no idea when that will be released.
  • Captain Marvel may be the most powerful Avenger in existence, but her last film was completely bonkers.
  • Doctor Strange is still around and obviously we can imagine a reunion with him and Wanda, albeit in a less hostile form.

The only person I think is more relevant than Wanda at this point is Spider-Man, as he is still going strong in his part of the universe and an upcoming trilogy reset.

But I have to believe that Wanda's return will be a significant moment for the MCU, not just in terms of the past, but also in terms of the future, where she has a lot of weird connections to Doctor Doom and later the X -Humans, even if the MCU version was somewhat rewritten from that origin.

So Agatha All Along will probably deliver one of the most important moments in the MCU in a few weeks. I can barely wait for it.
