Agatha All Along Episode 5 Summary

Agatha Harkness and her coven face another test on the Witches Road in the latest episode of Marvel's Agatha all the time.

Remember, the witches discovered that Lorna Wu's version of the ballad is actually a protective spell that they used in Episode 4 to escape Alice's curse. Teen almost dies, but Jennifer manages to save him, and the episode ends with Agatha's disappointment when Rio tells her that Teen is not her son. Here is a recap of episode 4.

Now on to Episode 5 titled “Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power”.

The episode begins on an eerie note as the Salem Seven arrive on Witch Street. They whisper Agatha's name and crawl along the winding road through the leaf-covered ground when they come across an object on the ground that looks like a black stone.

When one of the witches brings it to her nose, the scene shows Lilia sleeping on the floor next to the rest of the coven. It seems that in her dream she had a vision in which the Seven were on their trail.

“They are coming. We have to go,” she warns ominously, explaining that they left the door to the street open after using the summoning spell in Agatha’s basement.

Finally, we also get an explanation of who the Salem Seven are. As Lilia explains, Agatha spared her children when she killed her original coven (as shown in WandaVision). They became, as Rio so aptly describes, “a wild, hive-minded circle bent on revenge.”

“The moral of the story, children, is: Always finish what you start. Besides, mercy is overrated,” says Agatha as she runs around the corner, clearly in a rush to escape the Salem Seven again.

But it's too late to run. The Salem Seven are already surrounding them. And without their magic, they need a practical means of escape. Teen suggests brooms, which the coven initially rejects, but eventually relents since he has no other choice.

They hex some roots of a tree and begin the incantation in a hurry, while the Seven are literally on their heels, jumping on the “broomsticks” as they fly. The only way to survive is to get off the road, so they take to the air.

But pretty quickly the road forces them back to the ground as they reach the next test. They run into the cabin to escape the witches hot on their trail, and suddenly they're all wearing 80s-style clothing. Luckily, the Salem Seven can't seem to get in, so they have to complete this next trial and get on their way before the Seven figure out how to get to them.

Rio says this is Agatha's trial, given the blood moon outside, indicating that the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest. The best person to communicate with the dead is “someone who has buried so many,” Rio explains.

Just then, Teen finds a Ouija board and the clock starts ticking. You have 30 minutes to find out.

After Teen reads the board's rules, they begin. The ghost spells out “MRSHART” – and before they have time to understand what that means, Agatha is possessed by Mrs. Hart. But wait, she's not really possessed, she's just being typical Agatha, distracting everyone from her own fears and vulnerabilities. When the group calls her out, she sits down to try again, and this time she has to take things seriously.

So who are they really talking to? “DEATH.” What does it want? “PUNISH.” WHO? “AGATHA.”

Frightened, the women pull their hands from the board, but it is too late. Lights start flickering, papers fly everywhere and the board shoots off the table. Things calm down as Jen screams, “Punish Agatha!”

She believes this is the only way to get through the trial. Agatha tries to convince her otherwise, but her circle begins to agree that perhaps Agatha deserves punishment after everything she's done. Teen is the only one who defends her. Unfortunately, “confidants don’t get the right to vote,” says Jen.

The lights go out and Agatha hides from the circle. As they walk around the hut looking for her, they hear heavy breathing. Teen looks up and spots a shabby looking Agatha sitting on the ceiling. Her skin is gray and cracked, her hair sticks up in all directions and she has something wild about her. She jumps to the ground, her limbs cracking as they twist unnaturally. This time she's really obsessed.

She goes after Jen and strangles her against the wall as Lilia turns on the light and makes her disappear. At that moment a ghost appears. She identifies herself as Evanora Harkness of the Salemites. She is Agatha's mother and owned her daughter.

Ghosts usually have unfinished business, so the Circle asks Evanora what she needs. She tells them that they must end the witch's path without Agatha – the best and really only way to punish them. She wants the group to leave Agatha in the cabin with them. Rio tries to refuse and Agatha asks her mother with tears in her eyes, “Why do you still hate me?”

“You were born evil,” Evanora says. “I should have killed you as soon as you left my body.”

Ugh. Nobody knows what to say about that. Jen insists that they must leave the cabin and leave Agatha behind, but Agatha begins to beg the Circle to save her. Then Evanora takes possession of her again and wants to drive the other witches out of the hut, but Alice has other plans. She intervenes and summons her powers, directing them at Agatha and expelling Evanora from her body. And then Agatha begins to drain Alice's powers.

The Ouija board starts moving again and Teen runs over, demanding to know which spirit is with them now. “NICHOLAS SCRATCH.” Agatha’s son. Just as time is running out, Agatha stops drinking when she hears her young son's pleading voice: “Mom. Stop.”

A new door opens, indicating that they have passed the trial, but it appears to be too late for Alice. The life was literally sucked out of her. Everyone, even teenagers, is now against Agatha. Teen begs Jen and Lilia to help save Alice, but they tell him it's too late.

They leave the cabin, where Agatha summons her magic and secretly realizes that she has her powers back. Teen confronts her and Agatha insists that she couldn't control the suction, but Teen doesn't believe her. By now, Jen and Lilia have come to terms with the fact that it was a power grab for all of them, and they can't exactly be mad that Agatha took the opportunity to reclaim her magic.

“So this is what it means to be a witch? Killing people to serve your own agenda?” The teenager asks and insists: “Not for me.”

Agatha grins, becoming rather numb as she whispers, “Are you sure? You’re so much like your mother.”

Looks like Agatha found out who Teen is. At least she thinks she did. Agatha's words anger Teen, whose own blue magic begins to crackle from his fingertips. Jen and Lilia – whose eyes have turned blue, seemingly possessed by Teen – grab Agatha, throwing her off the road and letting her sink into the mud that almost caught Mrs. Hart at the start of the road.

Then he throws Lilia and Jen off the road and sinks into the ground. Let's go back to Teen, who is now donning a crown that looks very similar to that of the Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff. It looks like we finally know his true identity.
