Guardians vs. Tigers Game 5 Preview

After 13 regular season meetings and a wild roller coaster ride so far, it's one final duel to decide who gets a spot in the ALCS.

Cleveland survived a back-and-forth classic 5-4, overwhelming Comerica Park and sending the series to a fifth and final game. The Guardians posted an 11-game losing streak and a 20-game scoreless streak in postseason playoffs.

David Fry delivered a memorable two-run home run in the seventh inning and a brilliant squeeze bunt in the ninth inning that made the difference, while Jose Ramirez snapped a two-game hitless streak with a home run and a much-needed boost on the way home achieved. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt recovered from a tough chess match with Detroit captain AJ Hinch and held his own with some clever moves.

After blowing Game 2, Emmanuel Clase danced to a thrilling five-out save. He allowed a run but hunkered down with patented heat.

As expected, Detroit will send AL Cy Young leader Tarik Skubal out on a four-day break, while the Guardians have not yet announced their Game 5 starter. 4 record with a 2.39 ERA in the regular season.

Skubal is just 4-3 with a 3.11 ERA after four days of rest. In five days off, he is 9-1 with a 2.07 ERA.
