Alien: Romulus ends theatrical release with 350 million – continues success with strong streaming debut

Since we last took a look at the impressive theatrical debut and strong weekends that followed, Alien: Romulus has finally left theaters and achieved one final milestone in the process.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film has surpassed the $350 million mark worldwide and currently sits at $350,423,353 total and $105,282,126 domestically.

The majority of the film's total revenue came from the international market, accounting for 70% of the film's revenue. “Romulus” performed exceptionally well in China, where it earned a third of the total gross, making it the country's second-biggest Hollywood release of 2024 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

With these successes, “Alien: Romulus” is the second most successful film in the series, both in terms of its opening weekend and overall box office. It didn't quite reach the huge numbers of Prometheus, but given the smaller production budget of around 80 million, it should be considered an equally big success by the studio. Alien: Romulus also significantly outperformed the last Alien movie, Alien: Covenant, grossing over 100 million more than that film.
