All the while Agatha was repeating a brilliant Loki trick in the best way possible

All the while Agatha was repeating a brilliant Loki trick in the best way possible

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along Episode 6, “Familiar By Thy Side.”

One of Loki's best moments was copied years earlier by Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness Agatha all the time. WandaVision Episode 8 revealed that Agatha Harkness was a young MCU witch at the time of the Salem Witch Trials in the 16th century, meaning she has been alive for over three hundred years. That long life means she's been around the block all the time, and it's been proven Agatha all the time Episode 6, “Familiar By Thy Side”, in which Billy Maximoff – in his new body – investigates the powerful witch before joining her coven.

Billy Maximoff's research in Agatha all the time Episode 6 revealed that Agatha Harkness was involved in several major disasters throughout the 20th century, including the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 and the Hindenburg disaster in 1937. Ever since Agatha Harkness gained the ability to absorb the power and life force of other witches in Salem, she became notorious in the witch community as a murderer of her own kind. However, she also became infamous among the general population thanks to an iconic song by Dolly Parton.

Agatha Harkness was the real “Jolene”

Strangely enough, Agatha all the time Episode 6 also seemed to suggest that Agatha Harkness was the woman who inspired the iconic 1973 Dolly Parton hit “Jolene.” Apparently seen in 1972 surveillance photos of Agatha Harkness being slapped by a young Dolly Parton, the original Salem Witch appears to have been using her sexuality, sensuality and confidence to get what she wants for centuries she wants. While Agatha Harkness has not yet been confirmed as the real Jolene, this would repeat a brilliant trick that Tom Hiddleston's Loki pulled off in Phase 4.

Dolly Parton confirmed that “Jolene” is a true story set on stage in 1988. The song tells the story of the narrator urging the stunningly beautiful Jolene not to steal her husband
“just because (she) can.”

Agatha repeats a brilliant Loki trick all the time

Loki disguises himself as a real character in Season 1 of Loki

Back in Loki In the season 1 premiere, “Glorious Purpose,” it was revealed that the Asgardian god of mischief had impersonated DB Cooper after losing a bet to Thor. DB Cooper is a nickname for an unknown man who hijacked a plane in 1971 and demanded a $200,000 ransom – the equivalent of about $1.5 million in 2024. The fact that DB Cooper has not been identified means that Loki, like Agatha Harkness for Jolene, fits perfectly into the mystery in the 1970s, and this is not the only time that Loki series pulled off this trick.

Loki has subtly and cleverly inserted some allusions to real-world mysteries and given them explanations that fit the MCU. Here is each of them.

Loki In Season 2, it was revealed that Eugene Cordero's TVA employee Casey was originally a variant of Frank Morris, a real-life prisoner who attempted to escape Alcatraz in 1962. Morris escaped with two other men by placing papier-mâché heads in their beds and escaping using an improvised raft. The men were never found and were presumed to have drowned in their attempt to escapeBut Loki suggests that they survived. Agatha all the time Repeating this trick for Agatha Harkness is another example of the MCU answering a real-world mystery that never gets old.
