The incident was first reported in the post on October 2 reportedly occurred in 2012 during a drunken brawl while the couple were attending the Cannes Film Festival in France.

In the interview, the woman claims she met Emhoff on the dating app Match.com in 2012, a year before he began his relationship with Harris. At the time, she says, he was living in Los Angeles and she was living in New York.

She described a “fairytale” trip to Cannes for the star-studded festival, but claimed it took an aggressive turn when the couple queued outside the Hotel du Cap in Antibes for a taxi to get to their accommodation at around 3am to return

“I decided to go to the valet and give them $100 to get out of that line,” the woman said post. “I put my hand on the valet's shoulder and tell him, could you please get me a car as quickly as possible with my $100? As I'm talking to him, Doug leaves the line, walks toward me, and turns me around on my right shoulder. I'm completely surprised, I'm not tensing up, I'm wearing four-inch heels, wearing a floor-length dress and it's between 2 and 3 in the morning. He hits me so hard that I turn around and am completely shocked.

“There had been no fight, no argument,” she claimed. “It was an all-round fantastic event. I'm so angry. The only thing I could think of was to hit him back. I slapped him on one side and slapped his cheek with the other hand.

“In that moment his mask fell and I saw his dark side,” she added.

In the post In a report, “Jane” also claimed that Emhoff told her that his marriage to his first wife Kerstin had failed after he “had an affair with his daughter's teacher and her daughter subsequently claimed she was pregnant.”

The woman continued: “He shouted at her. He never said he hit her, but he said he got really angry with her, and she subsequently claimed that everything he did caused her to lose the pregnancy.

“He said there was no evidence that the woman had become pregnant. He tried to make it seem like she was cheating on him,” she added.

The post wrote that the woman decided to speak out because Emhoff disputed the original report and continued to portray herself as a feminist in interviews.

She emphasized in the report that her motivations were not political and that both she and her husband are registered Democrats, voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 election and donated $10,000 to his campaigns.

“I told this story to my friends. And I kept saying: This is a big deal, why doesn't anyone in the media care? And apparently no one did,” she told the post. “Not a single reporter has asked Doug directly about these allegations.

“When some news organizations re-reported your reporting, they even omitted the claim that the teacher became pregnant. I was angry. It's just so clear what's happening. I’m so disgusted,” she added.

The Daily Beast has reached out to the Harris campaign and the White House for comment.

After postIn an Oct. 2 report alleging the woman had been beaten by Emhoff, a spokesman said, “This report is untrue. “Any claim that he would or has ever beaten a woman is false.”
