Amari Cooper reacts to joining Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills after trading with the Browns

Amari Cooper was ready to turn the page and start a new chapter in 2024.

A year after shining as quarterback for the Cleveland Browns with Joe Flacco, Cooper struggled to find chemistry between him and Deshaun Watson. Watson was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league and was unable to repeat the style of play he had previously shown as the starting quarterback of the Houston Texans. Cleveland's last loss came on Sunday, a 20-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, which dropped them to 1-5 on the season.

The writing was on the wall. Cleveland's season was over and the Browns would be among the sellers as the trade deadline approached. On Tuesday, Cleveland gave Cooper the fresh start he was looking for when they sent the wide receiver and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for the Bills' 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick.

After the trade, Cooper opened up to Josina Anderson about wanting to join Buffalo. Cooper told Anderson that he has always been a fan of Josh Allen and that he is looking forward to playing alongside the franchise quarterback.

“(General manager) Andrew Berry called me and told me what was going on,” Cooper told Josina Anderson. “As far as playing with Josh (Allen), I’ve always been a fan of his game. I will definitely experience it up close and play alongside him. I'm sure it will be great.” “I've been in this situation before, so that helps. I’m just looking forward to starting a new chapter and being able to contribute.”

In six games, Cooper has registered 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Cooper has over 1,000 receiving yards in four of the last five seasons.
