Angel Reese says her WNBA salary isn't enough to pay her rent

Angel Reese has quickly become one of the hottest names in the WNBA and her name has brought her numerous opportunities outside of the sport she loves. The star athlete recently shared that her side endeavors are helping her fund her lifestyle since her WBNA salary isn't currently “paying her bills.”

While on Instagram Live, Reese lightheartedly encouraged her haters to keep hating because “hate pays.” She then addressed how her role at Chicago Sky doesn't cover her main expenses, such as rent.

“Hate is how they pay their bills, baby. I just hope you know that the WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all,” she said. “I don’t even think it’s worth it one of my bills. Literally, I'm trying to think about my rent for the place I'm staying. Let me do the math real quick. I don’t even know my (WNBA) salary. $74,000?”

After her friend ran some numbers and confirmed that Reese's salary doesn't cover her $8,000 rent, the LSU grad jokingly exclaimed, “I'm living beyond my means!” Check out the clip above.

“Babe, if you guys thought that… That WNBA check pays nothing. Did this even pay my car bill? …I couldn't even eat a sandwich with it. I couldn't even eat. I couldn’t live,” she continued.

In addition to lucrative sponsorships, Reese is able to supplement her WNBA income through various side hustles, her most recent venture being hers Unapologetic angel Podcast. She launched the show in September 2024 and has already released episodes with Latto, Mariah The Scientist, Kayla Nicole, Dwyane Wade and more.

However, it looks like Reese's standing is only going to get better in the league as she was recently named Sports Illustratedis the list of the 50 most influential female athletes of 2024. The 22-year-old has made headlines this season with her impressive performances, including setting a league record for most consecutive double-doubles.

Additionally, the Chicago Sky forward broke the WNBA single-season rebounding record and became the first rookie on an American professional basketball team to record 20 consecutive rebound games since NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal in 1993 .
