Arnold Palmer's daughter calls Trump's comments about her father 'disrespectful'

Arnold Palmer's daughter Peg Palmer Wears responded to former President Donald Trump's vulgar comments about her late father, calling them “disrespectful,” “inappropriate” and “unacceptable.”

“Being at the airport named after my father, where he flew to work every day or every week, you know, coming there and talking about … trite locker room anecdotes … seemed disrespectful and inappropriate.” “I,” she told ABC News on Monday afternoon.

Not only was Arnold Palmer a famous American golfer who had a popular drink named in his honor, he also had a regional airport in his hometown of Latrobe, Pennsylvania named after him. As Trump campaigned at that airport Saturday night, he opened the rally with a long-winded story about Palmer, who died in 2016, making particular reference to the golfer's genitals.

“When he was showering with the other pros, they came out of there. They said, 'Oh my God. This is unbelievable,'” Trump joked.

According to Wears, Trump used “someone he admires to boost his own image” and that “people deserve better.”

“The people who come to these rallies deserve substance about the plans that Trump has as a candidate if he could explain some of the threats that he has made to people,” she continued. “I mean, these are important issues that people should be discussing as they prepare for the election, and using my father to cover up the important things just seems unacceptable to me.”

Wears also confirmed to ABC News that she will vote in the presidential election, but did not reveal which candidate she plans to vote for.

As an independent voter from North Carolina, Wears plans to cast her vote in one of seven crucial states that could impact the election.

According to polling averages of 538, Trump is ahead by 0.8 points in North Carolina.
