Autumnal temperatures on the way, strong winds coming tomorrow

FREEZE WATCH effective late Sunday night through Tuesday morning for the Kootenai/Cabinet Region, West Glacier Region, Bitterroot/Sapphire Mountains, Lower Clark Fork Region and Missoula/Bitterroot Valleys. Temperatures below freezing point, preferably below 27 °C. Typical cold spots could be colder. Frost with a light frost is possible Monday morning, although light winds may bring milder temperatures. Less wind could mean Tuesday morning will be the coldest so far this fall.

FREEZE WATCH effective late Sunday night through Tuesday morning for the Orofino/Grangeville region, the Southern Clearwater Mountains and the Northern Clearwater Mountains. Freezing temperatures will be as low as possible above 2500 feet and as low as 20 degrees toward Dixie. Frost with a light frost is possible Monday morning, although light winds may bring milder temperatures. Less wind could mean Tuesday morning will be the coldest so far this fall.

FREEZE WATCH applies to the Flathead/Mission Valleys Sunday evening through Tuesday morning. Temperatures below freezing as low as possible.

NOTES ON SEA WIND valid for Flathead/Mission Valleys until Sunday 9:00 p.m. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected at Flathead Lake.

WARNING: RED FLAG Effective from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday for fire zone 110 (Deerlodge/West Beaverhead) and fire zone 111 (East Beaverhead). A dry cold front will bring gusty winds and low relative humidity Sunday afternoon and evening, resulting in critical fire weather conditions. The stronger winds and lower relative humidities are preferred for locations east of the Continental Divide.

Clock with strong wind effective Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening for the Rocky Mountain Front and adjacent foothills and plains, Eastern Glacier, Western Toole and Central Pondera Counties, and Eastern Toole and Liberty Counties. Westerly winds of 25 to 40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph are possible.

Today the weather will be sunny with temperatures well above normal for this time of year. This will likely be the last day over 80 this year, so it's a great time to get out and enjoy nature!

Starting tonight, low temperatures will be in the upper to mid 40s and skies will be clear to mostly clear.

As we begin Sunday, we will see a strong, dry cold front moving through the northern Rockies. This will bring us strong southwest wind gusts with speeds between 25 and 40 miles per hour.

The dry conditions and gusty winds will create fire danger in southwest Montana.

We will also experience cooler, more autumnal weather; Highs are expected to be in the 60s next week. Fortunately, we will also expect sunny and windy conditions during the first week of October.

However, the mornings on Monday and Tuesday. were able to observe temperatures close to freezing in our valley locations.
