Baba Siddique murder: Lawrence Bishnoi's video call from prison with a Pakistani gangster resurfaces

As the gang of the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the murder of NCP leader Baba SiddiqueDetails of Bishnoi's access to mobile phones and a video call between him and a Pakistani gangster from prison have resurfaced.

In June this year, a 19-second video clip purportedly showing jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi talking to Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti went viral on the internet. According to his Name cropped up in Siddique's murderPeople online pointed to the video and cited it as an example of how prison authorities helped him continue his criminal activities.

The 31-year-old gangster does not have his own cell phone, but uses the phone of another prisoner or someone close to him. India Today had earlier reported that Bishnoi was informed about the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in jail.

Bishnoi is said to have used mobile phones while incarcerated in Tihar Jail in Delhi and in prisons in Punjab and Rajasthan. However, prison authorities have denied these allegations.

Last month, Kunal Chhabra, a gangster wanted in several cases, claimed that he received an extortion call from Bishnoi when the latter was still in jail.

Sources also said that Bishnoi, who is currently detained in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, has been silently fasting for the last nine days. Bishnoi is believed to observe this silent fast when his gang commits a serious crime.

On Sunday, a suspected member of the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility in a social media post for the murder of Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his office in Mumbai on Saturday evening. The post also mentioned the former minister's alleged connection with Bollywood star Salman Khan.

The message read: “Salman Khan, we did not want this war, but you caused the death of our brother. We have no enmity with anyone, but whoever helps Salman Khan or the Dawood gang, their score will be settled.”

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang is targeting Salman Khan since he hunted two blackbucks, an animal revered by the Bishnoi community, in 1998. In April this year, suspected members of the same gang opened fire at the Bollywood star's home in Mumbai. One of the gunmen involved later died under suspicious circumstances at a Mumbai police station, angering the Bishnoi gang.

The social media post on Sunday said: “If anyone causes one of our brothers to be killed, we will definitely retaliate. We never attack first.”

However, police have not confirmed the authenticity of the social media post, although they have confirmed that it was a contract killing. Two shooters were arrested and a third person is on the run.

While Bishnoi remains in prison, three wanted gangsters – his brother Anmol Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and Rohit Godar – run the gang from the United States.
