Bills linebacker injures ankle, ruled out

Terrel Bernard missed two games earlier this season with a pectoral injury.

He failed twice against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Bernard suffered a head injury in the second quarter and was initially questionable about returning, but was back on the field at the start of the second half.

Then, in the third quarter, he hit Titans quarterback Mason Rudolph. Bernard was stepped on his foot before hitting the quarterback as Rudolph released the ball. Bernard grabbed his right ankle after the game before walking away with athletic trainers and heading to the medical tent.

During the timeout between the third and fourth quarters, Bernard came out of the medical tent and began running to test his ankle. Shortly after, he went to the Bills' locker room and was demoted to out.

Bernard's first injury occurred in the first half on a 20-yard loss by the Titans offense. AJ Epenesa got a strip sack on quarterback Mason Rudolph and the ball was kicked around before it was eventually recovered by center Lloyd Cushenberry III.

Bernard remained lying down and was examined by medical trainers before walking under his own power to the sideline. He went into the medical tent, but left with his helmet on and joined his teammates on the sidelines.
