Camila Cabello answers the question “If a song was written about her.”

Camila Cabello had a playful response when asked if she thought songs were written about her.

“I've been fortunate to contribute in many ways to the great music of the 21st century,” Cabello, 27, said during her guest appearance on Alex Cooper'S Unwell tourper fan material. “Sometimes I wrote them. Sometimes they were written about me. You’re welcome, Mother Woman.”

Cabello's remark comes amid speculation that multiple leads came from it Sabrina Carpenteris SShort and sweet Album is about her alleged love triangle with Shawn Mendes. In Carpenter's track “Coincidence,” the former Disney broadcaster sings about a man who got back together with his ex shortly after a breakup.

“The second I laid my head on your chest / She knew she had a real sixth sense,” Carpenter sings in the first verse. “Now her name comes up once, then it comes up twice / And without her even being here, she’s back in your life / Now she’s in the same damn night in the same damn city.”

Carpenter's “Taste” also addresses the lyrics to an ex's new girlfriend. “I heard you're back together and if that's true / You'll just have to taste me when he kisses you,” she sings. “If you want forever, I bet you want it. I just know you’ll taste me too.”

Carpenter added fuel to the fire after releasing a video for “Taste” that starred a brunette Jenna Ortega. Cabello has been a brunette for most of her career, including during her relationship with Mendes.

Cabello and Mendes began dating in 2019 before splitting two years later. The couple rekindled their romance in 2023 but split months later. “Camila was the one who ultimately decided to end things,” a source said exclusively Us weekly At the time, he added that Mendes was “very upset” that their relationship couldn't last.

So today I’m essentially attending my own funeral at the VMAs.”

Days later, Cabello performed at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival and adapted the lyrics to her and Mendes' “Señorita.” Fans began speculating that the change referred to Carpenter's “Taste.”

“You say we're just friends / But friends don't know the way you do…” Cabello sang before leaving out the next word: “taste.” Instead, she placed a finger on her lips before moving on.
