Carolina Classic Fair with disaster relief collections

In response to the need for disaster relief following Hurricane Helene, the Carolina Classic fair works with local organizations and businesses to collect donations of food and school supplies on special fair days.

Opening weekend, October 4th, 5th and 6th: A truck will be at the main gate to collect urgently needed items for storm relief in the mountains of North Carolina. Items will be picked up from gate opening to 8:00 p.m. on each of the three days.

The Carolina Classic Fair is partnering with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department on the collection initiative. The Sheriff's Department oversees the pickup and arranges for the items to be delivered to areas in need. Donate won't result in free entry to the fair.

All items are accepted, but the following are most needed:

*Water

*Baby food

*Diapers (baby/toddler/adult)

*Individually packaged snacks

*Batteries

*Garbage bags

*Pavement

*Toothbrushes/toothpaste

*Washcloths/towels

*Socks (All Sizes/New)

*Dog and cat food

*Disinfectant wipes

Deer Park® Spring Water School Day, Monday, October 7th: School supplies will be collected and 75% will be distributed to affected areas of the Mountain Region and 25% will remain in Forsyth County. On the school day, fair visitors bring three new and packaged school materials with them receive free entry to the fair.

Crisis Control Ministry Fair Food Drive, Wednesday, October 9, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m Fair visitors can donate five non-perishable foods receive a free entry ticket only on this day for mass. Also includes free entry to the WBFJ concert with Colton Dixon on October 9th at 7pm

Recommended items include: canned meat, canned vegetables, dried or canned beans, instant potatoes, and instant grits—anything that is shelf-stable and not in jars. There are volunteers and trucks at each gate to pick up food and hand out tickets.

Drive-by drop-off locations for those not attending the fair are Gate 7 on Shorefair Drive and Gate 11 on 27thTh/28Th Street

The Crisis Control Ministry is supporting Hurricane Helene relief efforts and distributing food from its warehouse to the affected region. It will also provide assistance, including food and prescription medications, to those affected and displaced in Forsyth and Stokes counties.

Monetary donations: Cash donations for disaster relief are urgently needed and can be sent to the American Red Cross at redcross.org/donate/dr/hurricane-helene.html.
