Chargers' Justin Herbert throws himself under the bus after Jim Harbaugh's Stern Message Post Cardinals loss

Justin Herbert and be Los Angeles Chargers lost against the Arizona Cardinals in the 15:17 loss on Monday Night Football. For many people it was painful to watch. How can a quarterback who has thrown for 349 yards stay defeated? Whatever the answer to that question, Herbert has made sure to take responsibility for the loss.

It happened on the 3rd and fourth play in the final quarter of the game. There was some pressure on Herbert and he decided to throw the ball where there was no receiver at all. Is it his fault that there wasn't a receiver there to pick up the ball? Apparently Herbert thinks so.

Alex Insdorf of Chargers Wire for USA Today went to X and shared a post saying: “Chargers QB Justin Herbert blames himself for throwing the ball away uncatchable on the Max Melton flag that the refs picked up: 'I've got to do a better job of passing it to him.'”

While this mistake might be considered Justin Herbert's fault, there was one play in the first quarter that sent Chargers fans into a frenzy. So much so that many are calling for Jim Harbaugh to acquire a number of new wide receivers because the team is currently struggling with its WRs.

Herbert threw a deep pass to Jalen Reagor with about 7:30 left in the first quarter. The receiver swung the ball in, but an Arizona Cardinals defender was able to knock it out of his hands. It was so painful to watch because Reagor was just outside the end zone and if he had taken two more steps with the ball it would have been a touchdown.

The majority of fans feel that Herbert shouldn't take the blame for tonight's loss to the Cardinals. After this loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Chargers have now slipped to 3-3. However, Jim Harbaugh is undeterred.

Harbaugh's quarterback didn't throw a touchdown tonight. In fact, neither Chargers scored a touchdown tonight. In other words, Cameron Dicker was the hero of the game as he hit five field goals. What is even more astonishing is the fact that the Chargers remained scoreless in the first quarter of the game. If Reagor hadn't missed Herbert's touchdown pass, the story could have ended differently.

But for Jim Harbaugh, this loss is a learning curve. He brought up Nelson Mandela's infamous message, which reflected the Chargers' mentality for the upcoming season. Check out what Harbaugh said in the postgame press conference.

“Nelson Mandela said, 'I don't lose.' Either I win or I learn.' To me that means: Make sure we learn from what happens and let us become better as a result.” Harbaugh said in response to the loss. Is he coping? It's hard to say. The MNF was a Harbaugh Bowl in some ways, except that the Harbaugh brothers didn't play against each other, but rather both fought for a win.

One brother won the Monday night game with his Ravens and the other lost the MNF. Definitely sounds like déjà vu in a parallel universe.
