Chlöe Bailey urges Generation Z to vote no matter 'what path they take'

Chlöe is encouraging Generation Z to vote ahead of the presidential election, in which Kamala Harris will face Donald Trump on November 5th.

On Wednesday (October 2nd) Shine gave a first-ever interview with the “Have Mercy” singer to celebrate her being named the publication's Female Musician of the Year. During her conversation, she talked about why voting is important, especially for those who didn't have that privilege at some point.

“There was a time when people who looked like me didn’t have the opportunity to vote. “I am a Black woman in 2024 who can make my voice heard – who can actually vote for another woman of color as a possible president,” Chlöe shared. “It’s important for this generation to cast our vote and make our voice heard, no matter what path they take.”

The In pieces The artist hasn't explicitly stated who she's supporting, although fans can probably guess. Her sister Halle Bailey appeared at the US Vice President's fundraiser in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 29). Meanwhile, Beyoncé's “Freedom” became a pillar of the Harris-Walz campaign's promotional efforts earlier this year.

Elsewhere in her conversation with ShineChlöe spoke about the overturn of Roe v. Wade in 2022. “We've taken so many steps forward – I can walk down the street and into any store as a black woman, I can make a living saying the things I want to say in my music.” ” she explained. “But it is also sad to see that some of the same issues faced by women who fought for our rights before us are now resurfacing, such as the right to our own bodies. There is still a long way to go before equality.”

Her Trouble in paradise hit streaming services in August. The 16-song effort boasted collaborations with Halle, YG Marley, Jeremih, Ty Dolla Sign and more.
