CW may call some NASCAR Xfinity races remotely

Sources said Nexstar Media Group's The CW is considering calling some of its NASCAR Booth races remotely from NASCAR's studios in North Carolina next year as a broader shift to the practice occurs in the sports media industry. NASCAR's secondary series, the Xfinity Series, aired on both Fox and NBC from 2015 until this year before The CW took over the playoffs. The CW signed a seven-year deal from 2025 to 2031 to air the full season for $115 million per year. But he's getting a head start because NBC Sports has agreed to air the final eight races of the season, using NBC talent and production to help fans adjust to the series' new home.

The broadcaster has not yet announced who will make up its booth next year, although Fox Sports' Adam Alexander is considered the favorite to become lead play-by-play announcer, as SBJ previously first reported.

People familiar with the matter now tell SBJ that, among other things, Nexstar and NASCAR are discussing how many races Nexstar will partner with NASCAR to produce from NASCAR's $53 million, 58,000-square-foot production facility that opened outside late last year was to call Charlotte from a distance. The CW will hold at least some races off the track, one of the people said, but the sides are still working out details.
