Filming of Anemone took place in Handbridge in Chester

A shoot for a film starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Sean Bean was interrupted when traffic cops began ticketing vehicles used in a scene.

Filming took place in Handbridge Chester for “Anemone,” a new feature film co-written by three-time Oscar winner Day-Lewis and his 26-year-old son Ronan.

Photos taken by passers-by showed Cheshire West and Chester Council Traffic officers issued tickets to a number of 1980s-era vehicles parked on double yellow lines along Overleigh Road.

The local council, which appears to have rejected an offer from the crew to close the road, has been contacted for comment.

Daniel Day-Lewis has won three Oscars for Best Actor throughout his career

Day-Lewis, 67, and his 65-year-old co-star Bean have reportedly been seen in the north west of England in recent days, including on location in Warrington.

It is not known whether the pair were in Handbridge – which was apparently twice as high for a Sheffield location – when traffic officers struck.

Handbridge councilor Matt Carter posted on the local Facebook group Handbridge Life that he had spoken to the council about the filming and had been told the authority's roads department had not approved it.

Carter also said he was told a request for a total road closure had not been approved.

The film is Daniel Day-Lewis' first feature film since retiring from acting in 2017

Produced by Focus Features, Anemone marks Day-Lewis' first appearance since then retired from acting in 2017 after The Phantom Thread.

He has won more Best Actor Oscars than any other actor, winning Oscars for “My Left Foot,” “There Will Be Blood” and “Lincoln.”

Focus Features described Anemone as a film that explores “the complicated relationships between fathers, sons and brothers and the dynamics of family bonds.”

The council and Focus Features have been contacted for comment.
