Davante Adams goes to the Jets and brings changes to fantasy football

The deal is finally done… Davante Adams is going to the New York Jets in exchange for a third-round pick that could develop into a second-rounder, according to multiples sources.

The move obviously has big fantasy implications for both the Las Vegas Raiders and Jets, but let's start in the Big Apple.

Adams, who averaged 15 points in three games with the Silver & Black this season, should at least continue at that pace. Remember, he has had a great relationship with Aaron Rodgers since their time together in Green Bay, and their close relationship is the main reason Adams ended up with the Jets rather than another team.

Speaking of Rodgers, that's clearly good for his value too. He's been a mediocre fantasy quarterback this season, and he should be more reliable now as long as his offensive line protects him.

The two losers here are Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, but especially the latter. Lazard has averaged a surprising 15.2 fantasy points per game this season, and that average will drop once Adams steps into the green and white.

As for Wilson, I don't see this as a death knell. He's averaging 16.2 fantasy points per game this season, and I can see him continuing at that level. Will this damage his ceiling? No question. But Rodgers has supported two solid fantasy wideouts in the past, and both Wilson and Lazard have averaged over 15 fantasy points through the first six games of 2024.

So ultimately, Adams and Wilson should both be WR2 options.

As for the Raiders, well, they're not nearly as good. Jakobi Meyers will be the top wideout on the roster, so his value will increase once he returns to action. Tre Tucker will also see an increase in value, although he didn't register anything on the stat sheets last week despite the absences of Adams and Meyers. He's worth a fantasy roster spot, but certainly not a starting spot.

If there's a winner in Las Vegas, it's Brock Bowers.

He was the second-best tight end in fantasy football through the first six weeks and should continue to see a ton of targets in a Raiders passing game that is lacking high-end weapons. Even as a rookie, Bowers will essentially be a must-have player for the rest of the season.
