Deion Sanders also felt that Buffs' last play should have been a PI

Deion Sanders also felt that Buffs' last play should have been a PI

Many in the audience at Folsom Field and many more watching on ESPN felt that the Colorado Buffaloes should have been given another chance before the buzzer. Many of the black and gold faithful were looking for something yellow to fly for a pass interference, but that wasn't the case, and that's how Colorado's night ended.

On a fourth-and-5 at their own 30-yard line, just 81 seconds remained and the Buffs trailed by three. CU surprised many with a shot. The call for the shot was even more surprising because CU lost four pass catchers in the game, including Sanders' top two targets in Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn. So out came Shedeur Sander, who threw a pass deep down the right sideline for Will Sheppard. But it was broken up with a lot of contact from Keenan Garber.

There was no call.

“We just always feel like we have a chance when the ball is in his (Shedeur’s) hands at the end,” Deion Sanders said after the game. “And I don’t know what happened at the end, and to me it looked like pass interference, but it was a tough time. I didn’t want to end up like that.”

Shedeur didn't say as much as his father.

Sanders: “No, whatever the referee calls, he calls it. The call wasn't a pass interference, so it's fine. We’ve just moved forward and focused on what we did wrong.”

K-State was eliminated as time expired after the Buffs failed to convert, and the score ended at 31-28. Some will say the flag should have been raised, but Coach Prime and Co. were more focused on the defense, which allowed an 84-yard touchdown drive in just 51 seconds to take the lead, just before Sanders even finished got ball.

The quarterback threw for 388 yards and three touchdowns on 34 of 40. Once completed 16 passes in a row, setting a new school record. But his only interception in the second half was nowhere near a single Black and Gold player, and his failure to perform heroically on that fourth down may have made the difference Saturday. That says a lot about what Sanders did to even keep CU in the game and give them a chance given the injuries in the game as well as K-State's dominance on the floor.
